Artist Statement

My works are figurative compositions concerned with the human condition. They are personal observations concerned with identity formation and crisis. Identities are formed as a result of past experiences and memories. They shape who we are and the identity roles we play. These roles keep changing and evolving with time and so does our identity. My works are personal narratives revealed through self-portraiture and people I encounter which further become the muses of my paintings. The figures in my paintings, both clothed and nude, reflect the intrinsic need to protect individuality in a society full of adopted identities. The nude figures portray the organic state of the body, free from external influences.  The medium I work in is oil painting and the surface used is linen canvas. I constantly experiment with different mediums, compositions and diverse ways of execution that visually and conceptually support my intended expressions.
