Forgotten Letters

Preeti Potdar Jain is an artist based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, INDIA. After receiving a degree (drawing and painting) from Barkatullah University in 2002, she spent a few years on her own with many Experienced Senior and peer artists at Bharat Bhavan, a multidimensional center of art that has its own unique identity in India. Here the introduction and discussion of new work enriched her vision. The time that she spent in Bharat Bhavan helped in in understanding the vast world of abstract creation very closely. It was a time in her work in which she found a direction to walk the path of abstraction with a new energy. It is from here that her distinct style of work developed.

I work on layers, forms, textures and lines. I add depth through colors to enhance my work. The layers and textures in my paintings takes form of letters. Letters enshrines all sorts of emotions and feelings with in themselves. Letters are a medium to express one’s emotions and feelings and for me my paintings are a medium to express my feelings and emotions. I try to portray my feelings in my paintings as Feelings get life if they are expressed like a letter reaching its destination. Letters which could not reach their destination, the emotions expressed in them remain somewhere in the depth of our heart. They gather dust and fade away but they cannot be killed. They remain entrenched in our heart eternally.
