The Thousand Miles in One Brushstroke is a solo exhibition that traces the philosophical underpinnings of Chinese ink painting and its resonance in contemporary practice. Each work is an act of sustained attention — the artist moving between control and surrender, between the weight of tradition and the lightness of the present moment. The exhibition invites viewers to slow down, to follow the trace of the brush across paper, and to find in that trace a kind of silence.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The Rural Rhythm is a deeply personal body of work that draws on the artist's memories of village life in Uttar Pradesh. Through layered pigments and earthy palettes, the paintings evoke the unhurried cadence of agricultural seasons — the sowing, the harvest, the festivals, the silences in between. The works resist nostalgia in favour of something more honest: a reckoning with what endures and what is lost as India urbanises at speed.

The Residency exhibition presents works made over fourteen days of concentrated practice at the Synapse studio space. Artists from across India were invited to work in proximity — sharing materials, ideas, and the productive friction of different approaches. The resulting works are raw, immediate, and alive with the energy of their making. This exhibition is less a finished statement than a record of process: the sketches, the pivots, the breakthroughs.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Abhivyakti — the Sanskrit word for expression — brings together twelve artists whose practices span painting, sculpture, printmaking, and textile. The exhibition resists a single curatorial thesis in favour of multiplicity: each artist speaks in their own register, and the show asks what it means to make art in India today, when the pressures of market, tradition, and global contemporaneity pull in different directions. The result is a conversation rather than a statement.

Expression: An Invocation of a Brush Stroke is a solo exhibition that takes the mark itself as its subject. The artist works at scale, using large-format canvases that demand the full movement of the body. Each painting is made in a single session — no reworking, no revision. The brushstroke is allowed to be what it is: a record of a moment, a gesture, a breath. The exhibition asks whether painting can still be an act of pure presence in an age of endless mediation.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The Fusion of the Future is a group exhibition that places classical Indian artistic traditions in direct dialogue with contemporary digital and conceptual practices. The participating artists — working across painting, digital print, video, and installation — share a preoccupation with inheritance: what to carry forward, what to transform, and what to leave behind. The exhibition does not resolve this question but holds it open, as a productive tension.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Synapse International Art Gallery presented a curated selection of works by Chintan Zalavadia at the Dubai Art Fair 2024, marking the gallery's first participation in an international art fair. Zalavadia's paintings — dense with narrative, colour, and a distinctive visual vocabulary drawn from Indian folk traditions and contemporary life — found a receptive audience among international collectors and curators. The booth was one of the most visited at the fair, and several works entered significant private collections.
