Our Story
A Gallery Born from Passion
Synapse International Art Gallery was founded in 2017 in Lucknow with a singular conviction — that Indian contemporary art deserves a world-class platform. What began as an intimate space for local artists quickly grew into an internationally recognised gallery, connecting collectors, curators, and art lovers across India and beyond.
Over seven years we have curated more than forty exhibitions spanning painting, sculpture, printmaking, textile art, and digital media. Each show is conceived as a dialogue — between artist and audience, tradition and innovation, the local and the global.
Today Synapse operates across ten cities, collaborating with institutions, art fairs, and residency programmes to ensure that the artists we represent reach the widest possible audience.

Rakesh Kumar Maurya
Founder & Director
Rakesh Kumar Maurya founded Synapse International Art Gallery in 2017 after two decades of working at the intersection of art, culture, and commerce. A passionate advocate for Indian contemporary artists, he has spent his career building bridges between studios in Lucknow and collectors across the world.
Under his leadership, Synapse has grown from a single gallery space into a multi-city platform representing over twenty-five artists and hosting landmark exhibitions at major art fairs in India, the UAE, and Europe. Rakesh believes that great art changes the way we see — and that every artist deserves an audience equal to their vision.
