Arunanshu started making dough sculptures with his grandmother. His mother was an artist and teacher. He painted as a child and improved over time. He didn’t plan to study art, but later did. He moved to Baroda for fine art. His style changed from watercolour to bold brushwork. Now he works in mixed media and large-scale pieces. His art reflects his city, politics, and life.
Amarnath comes from a carpenter family. He grew up in a small village. He spent summers with his grandfather. He learned about wood types. Wood feels alive to him. In Hindu tradition, wood is a lifelong friend. It’s used in homes and rituals. Wood is renewable, reduces pollution, and connects people to nature. It helps mental health. Millions depend on it. It’s practical, familiar, and beautiful. To Amarnath, wood symbolizes life. It links humans to nature and existence. Cutting wood shows patterns. These become metaphors in his art. His work explores human life and nature. He uses visuals to express emotions. Wood is central to his practice.
Sambit’s work focuses on environmental values and traditions. He reflects on urbanization and living organisms. His series "Flies" shows creatures without humans. It creates dialogue and redefines values. He uses unusual images. He values east, ecosystem, and balance.
Umashankar blends urban and rural scenes. He shows tension between city and village life. Streetlights vs. ploughshare = "nothing in everything." This reflects his migrant journey. From farming, he sought dreams. In *Expecting the Expectation*, he questions what expectation means. Childhood memories of planes inspire it. In *The Blackest Air*, he shows sorrow for progress. Polluted air = damage from greed.
Umendra Pratap has many awards: three National Awards, a State Award, Senior and Junior Fellowships, a research grant, and scholarships. He has shown in many national and international exhibitions. He attended over 20 artist workshops. He taught at Kanpur and Lucknow universities for three years each.
